Author Bret Easton Ellis has been banned from attending the GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) Media Awards due to the controversial comments he has tweeted in the past.
Ellis took to his Twitter account to reveal that GLAAD has banned him from attending the awards as a guest of someone who was invited.
"As a gay man in a domestic partnership who plans to get married I'm sad to hear I've been banned by GLAAD from attending tomorrow's event..." he tweeted Friday.

Ellis has previously made comments about actor Matt Bomer because he didn't think Bomer was qualified to portray Christian Grey in a movie version of 50 Shades of Grey because the actor is openly gay.
"I don't care how good an actor you are but being married to another man complicates things for playing CG. Okay I'll say it. Matt Bomer isn't right for Christian Grey because he is openly gay. He's great for other roles but this is too big a game," Ellis said according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Other comments by Ellis include comparing watching Glee to stepping "into a puddle of HIV" and agreeing with Paris Hilton after she said gay men are "the horniest people in the world" and men who use the app Grindr "probably have AIDS."
The GLAAD Media Awards Saturday night in Los Angeles will honor President Bill Clinton with the Advocate for Change Award. GLAAD has also not made a comment yet regarding Ellis.
